Know before you move
Northland has numerous weight-restricted bridges and power line crossings. Get the critical information before your contractor quotes.
Weight-Restricted Bridges
Many rural Northland bridges have 3β8 tonne limits. A standard house on a transporter can exceed 40 tonnes. Always check with NZTA and your contractor before planning any route.
Height Restrictions
Standard maximum is 4.25m without a permit. Most houses need to be slid off their foundations to comply. Power line heights vary β your contractor must notify Vector and lines companies.
Width Permits
Over 2.5m wide requires an oversize permit. Over 4.3m wide requires NZTA special permit and police escort. Most houses fall in the 8β12m range requiring splitting or specialist equipment.
Night & Weekend Moves
Many moves through WhangΔrei town require night time movement to avoid traffic. This adds cost but is often unavoidable. Plan for it in your budget.
